LECTURE SERIES ON CURRENT TOPICS IN CLINICAL ANATOMY AND OPERATIVE SURGERY

In late October and early November 2023, the European scientific community witnessed a series of engaging events. A lecture series on current topics in clinical anatomy and operative surgery took place. Researchers from Masaryk University (Czech Republic), Dr. Marek Joukal, and Dr. Libor Streit conducted an online masterclass showcasing some contemporary techniques in reconstructive plastic surgery, with a primary focus on anatomical aspects.

Colleagues from the University of Zagreb (Croatia), Drs. Ruza Grizelj, Jurica Vucovic, Tomislav Luetic, and Kresimir Bulic, shared their unique experience in successfully addressing a relatively rare clinical challenge – the surgical separation of conjoined twins.

Speakers from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), Dr. Eve Robertson-Waters and Dr. Andrew Grainger dedicated their lecture to the anatomical features of the structure and biomechanics of the knee joint, as well as the challenges of diagnosing and medically visualizing muscle and tendon injuries.

We express our gratitude to our colleagues from European universities for their valuable contribution to the development of medical education in Ukraine and hope for further fruitful cooperation. Such events serve as a great stimulus for learning for students and continuous professional development for educators.

We extend sincere thanks to Drs. Cecilia Brassett and Sarah L. Fawcett, clinical anatomists from the Anatomy Centre at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, as well as Associate Professor Olga Prykhodko from the Department of Morphology at SumDU, for their active assistance and support in organizing the lecture series.
