About the museum

The world experience of teaching human anatomy is based on anatomical museums’ important cognitive, educational, and scientific role. Such a museum has been established and operating since 1993 from the beginning of the Department of Human Anatomy of SumDU. The first anatomical preparations: “Ileo-appendix”, “Blood vessels of the small intestine” and “Relief of the mucous membrane of the ileum” were made by first-year students and demonstrated at the First Student Scientific Conference in April 1993. At the end of the 90s of the twentieth century, the museum exhibited more than 200 original drugs, including “Cute Trunks”, “Topography of the pelvic cavity”, “Organs of the retroperitoneal space”, “Lymphatic vessels and mesenteric nodes of the small intestine”, “Total human blood vessels”, “Organs of the mediastinum”, “Lymph nodes and vessels of the retroperitoneal space and posterior mediastinum”, “Diaphragmatic nerves”, “Sympathetic trunks” and many others. The created drugs are the decoration of the museum and surprise all visitors with their originality. Now the museum exhibits about 800 anatomical pills at 130 m2, and its fund is constantly updated.
